Description
Votive Church, 2024
The Votive Church (Votivkirche) is one of Vienna’s most remarkable neo-Gothic landmarks. Built in the 19th century as an expression of gratitude after a failed assassination attempt on Emperor Franz Joseph I, its majestic twin towers and richly decorated facade make it an iconic part of the city’s skyline. This linocut captures the view of the Votive Church from Rathausplatz—a lively square in Vienna known for hosting major events and the famous Christmas market.
Each print is original and hand-printed. A special oil paint is applied to the rubber roller. The paint is applied to the lino with an engraved image with a roller. After placing the paper on the lino, the image is transferred to the paper by pressure.
